Raquel Wells Williams grew up in Clarksdale as an only child of working parents. Exposed to fine arts and different cultures, she developed a passion for literature and creative expression which led her to a career in education. She is married to a home-grown carpenter and they own Hammer-N-Nails Construction company. Together they provide on the job training for students who show an interest in the trade. They have four children and one grandchild.

The socially awkward teacher decided to create several social clubs to promote positive engagement in Clarksdale. Her daughter inspired “Magnolias & Motleytude” which was the brainstorm of her and one of her close friends designed to rally support for community efforts and small businesses, “Reading Between the Wines Book club” for adults to have a night of mature conversation detached from reality & B.L.A.Z.E.R.S. which is a focus group that supports gifted & talented children and families of children with mental health & behavior issues.

Raquel has a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Delta State University, a Gifted Certification from the University of Mississippi and is currently enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi in Library & Information Science. She is a Licensed Cosmetologist and an active member of the Clarksdale-Marks Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
