Clarksdale, Mississippi – Coahoma Community College Alum, Corterrius “DaCakeGoat” Allen, wins Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Higher Purpose Awards.
The event, which took place in Clarksdale, MS on February 3rd, was hosted by Higher Purpose Co. and they honored six incredible individuals across Mississippi who are the definition of Black Excellence.
Allen, a 2021 graduate of Coahoma Community College and Shelby, Mississippi native, served many roles while on campus. He was a member of the CCC choir, student government association and participated in several campus organizations and aspired to become well-rounded as possible during his Coahoma years.
He shares his excitement of being recognized as Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
“When I received the message that I was going to be recognized as Young Entrepreneur of the Year, I questioned on why I was deserving of this great award,” said Allen. “Then I began to take inventory on how far God has brought me in my life and in my business. My doubts turned into confidence of “Why not me?”
“Being a Young Entrepreneur of the Year has been a rewarding experience. This award has been the first award I have ever received in the Mississippi Delta. This will always be a memorable moment for me,” said Allen.
Allen expresses that, “when you see me smiling, just know I have every right because God is performing Psalms 23:5 on me.”
At a young age, Allen got into baking and decorating cakes and studied the art of baking just as a senior in high school. One of his first jobs was working at the Sweetery Bake Shop, where he observed and learned how to bake and create delicious works of art. Upon coming to Coahoma, he then decided to start a career in baking.
Allen has been featured on Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” and in Netflix’s “It Cake, Too” TV shows. While becoming a baking sensation across national television, he also graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
In his spare time, DaCakeGoat continues to bake incredible cakes, and begin his own business, CJA’s Cakes and Cupcakes. Allen travels all around the country sharing his delicious cakes, he also sets a positive example for the youth and gives back to his community every change he can. His future goals are for his business to keep thriving and reaching all of his achievements. He even shares that “Cakenotized by DaCakeGoat” tour will be coming soon.
Allen is very thankful that Higher Purpose, Co. chose him as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year and hopes that his accomplishment will encourage and inspire others to never give up on their dreams.
