Conference tackles matters impacting men in Mississippi

Jackson, MS (June 30, 2023) –The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health Black Men’s Health Equity Council will host a Men’s Conference from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023.

The conference will be held in the Bennie G. Thompson Academic and Civil Rights Research Center at Tougaloo College, located at 500 West County Line Road, Tougaloo, MS.  The theme for the event is Mississippi Men Under Construction:  Building Bridges of Respect, Relationships, and Legacy!

The Men’s Conference will use a multigenerational approach to identify strategies to reduce disparities in health, economics, and social justice.  Through inspiring speakers, presenters and workshops, the conference hopes to establish a connection between generations of men in order to educate, elevate and improve the community.  The conference is free.  Attendees will receive lunch and have access to free health screenings throughout the day.

The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health was established in 2019 to reduce health disparities among disadvantaged and underserved minority populations in Mississippi through the development of collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders and the implementation of evidence-based public health interventions with a particular focus on health equity.
